Plan Commission recommends declaring 1.986 acres of former utility land surplus

The Waukesha Plan Commission recommended the Common Council declare a 1.986‑acre parcel formerly held by the city water utility as surplus. The property, located outside the city limits on Big Bend Road south of Mill Creek, was identified by staff as no longer needed following the water utility’s hookup to the Great Lakes water supply.

Doug (planning staff) said city departments were queried about potential alternate uses and none expressed a need to retain the parcel. The commission moved and seconded a recommendation to declare the parcel surplus and forward that recommendation to the Common Council; commissioners approved the motion by voice vote.

Staff noted subsequent ordinance changes and sale processes would occur through the Common Council if the surplus declaration proceeds.
