The Chula Board of Alderman on July 23 voted to reissue unclaimed checks and directed staff to pursue several operational tasks including code-enforcement final notices, bank-account comparisons and asset tracking.
Geremy Bru moved to reissue unclaimed checks; Benny Simpson seconded and the motion carried 4-0. The clerk will reissue checks where recipients are known and otherwise follow unclaimed-property procedures with the Missouri treasurer.
On infrastructure, Cody Ireland reported he had discussed the lift station with Paul and recommended installing one pump now while obtaining materials for a second pump, with a new contract to reflect staged work. Council noted that any project over $75,000 would invoke prevailing-wage requirements and asked for follow-up on potential change-order impacts.
Council also discussed staffing: by the end of August Dawn Boyles will be the sole city clerk and Ann Hamilton will step down; clerks will scan and organize records, update the city website (with Kati Westcott), and track city-owned tools and serial numbers. The board scheduled additional meetings — a special session on Aug. 4 and the monthly meeting on Aug. 11 — to continue follow-up work.
