Board approves Greensboro car show and grants three‑year recurring approval

The Caroline County Board of License Commissioners on July 22 approved a temporary license for the Town of Greensboro's annual car show and music festival to be held Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at 13875 Greensboro Road, and also voted to grant a three‑year recurring approval so the event need not return to the board each year unless its format or footprint changes.

Brandon Cunningham, representing the Town of Greensboro, described the event as an annual car show and music festival that benefits a community basketball program and said alcohol sales will be made from a single fenced and TIP‑certified server station. "It's our annual car show music fest. It benefits community basketball program," Cunningham said, adding that past attendance has reached about 450 people.

Board members reviewed parcel maps after staff noted differing addresses in the packet and on the agenda; the board required the applicant to amend the application and site plan to show the correct licensed parcel and said staff will reflect the correct parcel in the license. The initial motion approved the Aug. 29 date and required the application/site plan be amended to list the correct address. Separately, the board approved a three‑year recurring permission (conditional on no changes to event format and annual notice to the licensing administrator) to reduce administrative burden for a recurring community event.

Staff and board members discussed public‑safety measures (fenced service area, signage and coordination with the fire company) and asked the applicant to post an address for emergency access and confirm staffing/certifications for alcohol service.

The motions to approve the event and the three‑year recurring permission were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
