Five modular homes planned for Barrow Street; lottery, deposits and timeline outlined

Councilor Tim McNamara updated the commission on the Barrow Street development, describing it as a five-unit project intended to produce homeownership opportunities.

McNamara said the first group of buyers will be prioritized to city employees, school district employees and Lebanon Housing Authority staff; because fewer qualifying applicants came forward in earlier outreach, the selection process will open to Lebanon residents more broadly.

He outlined the deposit schedule for selected buyers: an initial $1,000 nonrefundable deposit followed by a $9,000 payment (for a total of $10,000 nonrefundable) to hold a place prior to module ordering and construction. McNamara said site work could begin in the fall, modular units would likely be set in early January, and occupancy could follow in April or May if the schedule holds.

The commission discussed financing preapproval requirements and the goal of having owner-occupied units if feasible. No formal vote on approvals or funding for the project took place during the meeting.
