The Holt County Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution #2026-07 on July 16 to schedule a public hearing on Aug. 17 at 10:30 a.m. to consider vacating 495th Avenue from 879th Road to 880th Road (between sections 15 and 16, Township 30 North, Range 11 West). Supervisor Dustin Breiner introduced the resolution and Supervisor Treptow seconded; the motion passed with all present voting aye.
On infrastructure spending, the Board approved Bowman Consulting Group Work Order #14 on Structure #C004558815 and accepted a pavement-marking quote from Straight-Line Striping Inc. at $1,890.00 per mile for 2026. The Board also approved a training proposal from Jackson Heavy Equipment for fall 2026 and authorized a JEO Engineering agreement for pavement cores priced at $29,950.00.
During the claims review the Board approved substantial Construction Asphalt Fund payments, including $217,576.86 to Green Gables and $1,780,709.28 to Werner Construction Inc.; Road Fund claims totaled $395,452.78 and General Fund claims totaled $261,758.60. Road Superintendent Gary Connot presented his department activity report; the Board approved the listed claims and adjourned the meeting at 11:40 a.m., scheduling the next meeting for July 31, 2026 at 9:15 a.m.
What happens next: a public hearing on the proposed road vacation will be held Aug. 17 in the Holt County Supervisors Meeting Room. Contracted pavement-core testing and work orders will proceed as authorized pending routine administrative steps.
