The Silver Consolidated Schools Board approved finance and purchasing items and accepted transportation contract awards after a finance presentation showing a positive year-end balance.
Director of Finance Michelle McCain told the board the district is closing the year with roughly $3,500,000 in reserves, about 10% of the budget. "We're ending the year with about $3,500,000 which is about 10% of our budget," McCain said, noting an earlier $1,300,000 risk-insurance bill and about $554,000 in outstanding reimbursement requests (RFRs). She also flagged a $50,000 carryforward for uniforms.
McCain presented checks written for June totaling $8,505,373.90 and described two BARs tied to transportation: an added allocation of $465,429 that raises the transportation budget and a $20,000 GRADS award for a teen-parent program. She also reported a $1,000 donation from McDonald s for the Silver High girls soccer program. After presentation, the board moved, seconded and approved the finance reports and BAR adjustments.
Transportation contracts: Antonio Anduzzolo presented initial 2026-27 contracts for Montoya Transportation (named at action), Cliff Bus Lines, Mingus/Mingus Busing and Shelley Farms. Anduzzolo said the increased transportation allocation allowed the district to return some items (such as bus insurance) to the transportation budget instead of operational accounts. "Our bus insurance, we had moved to the operational budget. We can now put it back in transportation," McCain said.
The board voted to approve the 2026-27 bus contracts during the action portion of the meeting.
Why it matters: The year-end balance and the transportation allocation affect district operations and contractors; moving expenses back into transportation restores prior accounting practices and allows the district to make contractor payments consistent with increased funding.
What s next: Contracts and budget adjustments are effective for the 2026-27 school year. Staff will continue reconciling year-end accounts and report on outstanding RFR reimbursements at future finance committee meetings.
