At a July 8 Committee of the Whole meeting, Marathon Health representatives presented their annual review to the Harlem Consolidated School District #122. Josh Aurand introduced Karl Rindell, Marathon’s client success manager; Larry Morrissey, executive sponsor; and Tambra Daniels, the clinic’s new provider. Karl Rindell framed the presentation around member engagement, patient experience and potential cost savings.
Rindell opened with a patient success story to illustrate early intervention and continuity of care. He reported Marathon's engagement metric at 85.4% after 16–17 months, distinguishing one-time clinic visits from ongoing engagement with a provider and emphasizing trust-building as essential to sustained utilization. Rindell described the wellness program as a driver of clinic utilization.
On cost savings, Rindell presented Marathon’s approach to calculating avoided emergency-department and urgent-care visits and said the company’s model yields an estimated $1.3 million in first-year savings for the district. The figure was presented as an estimate based on the vendor’s internal ROI calculations; no independent audit or third-party verification of the estimate was recorded in the meeting minutes.
Tambra Daniels, introduced as the new clinic provider, summarized goals for prevention-focused care and improving access to services at the district clinic. The presentation emphasized prevention and continuity rather than one-off visits as the mechanism for improved health outcomes and downstream cost reductions.
The transcript records the presentation of engagement and savings figures and a discussion of the wellness program’s role; there is no record in the minutes of a formal motion, vote, or follow-up assignment tied to the Marathon presentation. The committee moved on to other agenda items after the presentation.
The committee adjourned at 6:07 p.m.
