The Killian Board of Aldermen unanimously approved the appointment of Leslie Bankston as town attorney at its regular meeting Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Town Hall in Killian.
Bankston, presented to the board by Mayor Caleb Atwell, told aldermen that she would bill "by job for the suits already going on. By hourly for everything else," when Alderman Ronald Sharp Sr. asked about billing arrangements. Following that clarification, Alderman Wesley Bignar moved to accept Bankston as town attorney; Alderman Trevor Clardy seconded. The motion carried with five yeas: Aldermen Corey Beasley, Nick Guthrie, Wesley Bignar, Ronald Sharp Sr. and Trevor Clardy; there were no nays or absences.
Mayor Caleb Atwell opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m. with a prayer and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Attendance was recorded with the five aldermen present; Keila Neal is listed as town clerk. The mayor opened the floor for public comment but no one spoke.
After confirming Bankston’s billing terms and the board’s vote to appoint her, Alderman Ronald Sharp Sr. moved to adjourn; Alderman Trevor Clardy seconded and the board again voted unanimously to adjourn. The meeting minutes record the motions and unanimous votes and are signed by Mayor Caleb Atwell and Town Clerk Keila Neal.
No ordinances, resolutions, contracts or other formal actions beyond the appointment and adjournment were recorded in the minutes provided.
