Commissioners approve $975,000 appropriation to buy engineer’s office and add grant and repair funding

The Tuscarawas County Board of Commissioners on July 15 approved supplemental appropriations to cover departmental needs and a property purchase. The board approved $975,000 in the Commissioners’ account for the purchase of a building for the Engineer’s Office, $15,000 in the Water & Sewer fund to cover repairs, $40,000 in Family & Children First Council grant funds to be received, and $3,000 to purchase two laptops. The actions passed by unanimous voice vote.

County Administrator Kris Lowdermilk told the board he "has all of the signed documents for the acquisition of property for the Engineer’s Office. The documents have been scanned and are ready to go to Dinsmore and Shohl." Commissioners recorded a yes vote from Kristin Zemis, Greg Ress and Mitch Pace on the supplemental appropriations resolution.

The supplemental appropriations were presented as part of routine fiscal housekeeping to cover immediate repairs, accept incoming grant funds, update equipment, and complete a planned purchase for the Engineer’s Office. No additional financing details or closing dates for the property purchase were provided in the meeting record.
