Kevin Boyle, vice chairman of the Middlefield Public Safety and Firehouse Building Committee, presided over a July 8 meeting at which the committee approved a series of pay applications, invoices and change orders totaling $685,312.72 for the town's public safety and firehouse project.
The largest single approval was pay application #12 to PDS for $634,498.56; Ryan Colwell moved the payment and Bruce Villwock seconded it. Other approved payments and charges included TestCon Invoice 13374 REV1 for $1,896.00 (motion by Steven Tyc, second by Kevin Boyle), Arcadis Invoice #36138611 for $8,814.00 (motion by Bruce Villwock, second by Kevin Boyle) and IES Invoice #21623 for $1,500.16 (motion by Bruce Villwock, second by Steven Tyc).
The committee approved several change events. Colwell moved and Villwock seconded CE #0023 to install an underground propane tank for $12,093.41, which carried. Steven Tyc moved and Colwell seconded approval of CE #0034.1 for spare conduit to the Community Center; that item was amended from $8,983.78 and approved at $8,000.00. The committee also approved CE #0028.2 for post hydrant REV#2 with a cost add of $4,450.59 (motion by Steven Tyc, second by Kevin Boyle).
The committee approved an Arcadis staffing supplement to add a senior project manager at four hours per week at $185 per hour for 19 weeks, totaling $14,060.00; the motion was made by Ryan Colwell and seconded by Kevin Boyle. The record shows that the owner's representative reviewed project line items, progress, months of service completed and projected service; the commissioning agent reported none for this meeting.
Committee members reviewed finishes for the project and noted that a time capsule will be included in the building. Members also discussed how to ensure the committee's expectations are met during construction; no additional formal motions on oversight were recorded in the transcript.
