Votes at a glance: Canandaigua council approves water infrastructure resolutions and three capital repairs

The Canandaigua City Council on July 20 approved multiple water-related measures by roll-call vote.

- Resolutions 2026044, 202643 and 202645 (moved as a block by the Environmental Committee): authorized work and grant applications for Water Resource Recovery Facility biological treatment design and primary clarifier improvements, found the project a Type II action under SEQR, and authorized a lead/service-line inventory and pursuit of 100% grant funding through the Water Infrastructure Improvement Act (WIIA) service-line program. - Bond authorization: the council authorized staff to pursue issuance of $18,879,000 in serial bonds to finance the WERF biological treatment design and primary clarifier project; the authorization allows staff to apply for grants and to pursue bonding if grant awards are insufficient. Vote: unanimous (8–0). The council emphasized the bond authorization does not commit to an immediate bond sale; staff will return with debt analysis and will not sell bonds until after grant outcomes and further council review.

- Capital repairs (moved as a block): Resolution 2026047 (award contract for water treatment plant security fence), Resolution 2026048 (capital budget amendment to replace a damaged inline magnetic flow meter), and Resolution 2026049 (budget amendment for repairs at Roseland Pump Station) were approved. Vote: unanimous (8–0).
