Mayor proclaims ‘Saratoga Shredders’ Mountain Bike Team Day after state title

Mayor John F. Safford opened the July 21 meeting by reading a proclamation honoring the Saratoga Shredders Devil Mountain Bike Team for winning the 2026 New York NICA state championship and declaring July 21, 2026, "Saratoga Shredders' Devo Mountain Bike Team Day." He thanked coaches, families and volunteers and invited team members and head coach Anna LaLo forward for photos and brief remarks.

Coach Anna LaLo and several team members accepted the proclamation; one youth team member told the council the team appreciated the recognition and thanked the city. Mayor Safford said the accomplishment reflects the athletes’ dedication and that local sports "inspire our community."

The ceremony was brief and ceremonial; no council action was required. The mayor and council posed for photographs with the team before moving on to the evening’s public hearings.
