Board endorses focused trail maintenance, temporary signs and blazes for Evans Run loops

Gavin presented proposed trail maps and photos and requested permission to ask the mowing contractor (CBP) to expand trimming to include trail edges; the board agreed to prioritize maintenance of larger, established loops and let lesser cross‑trails revert purposefully while planning for future, formal trail design.

Committee members recommended interim measures: adding more blue blazes, using existing storyboard sign panels as temporary wayfinding, and posting simple laminated signs at two entrance points urging users to “follow the blue blazes.” One board member offered to prepare and laminate quick signs so signage could be installed within a week.

The board also asked staff to re‑emphasize plans to Chet and other community volunteers so they understand the intent (restoration or closure of small cross‑trails) and to avoid uncoordinated clearing. Longer‑term trail design and potential engagement with university programs or a trail‑blazing program will be considered when staff capacity allows.
