Culbertson voters approve higher municipal levy; council certifies April 7 election

The Town Council of Culbertson canvassed the April 7, 1930 election and certified the results, declaring J.E. Rucker elected mayor and other local officers returned or newly elected to aldermanic posts. The council also recorded the referendum results on rate questions: voters approved increasing the general municipal levy from 15 to 20 mills (50 votes for; 24 against) and approved a five-mill levy for streets and roads (60 for; 18 against).

Council members announced the vote tallies during the April meeting and declared the propositions carried. The council subsequently adopted resolutions formalizing levy rates and distributed appointments to standing committees and town officers, including the appointments of the town marshal, treasurer and clerk for the coming term.

The minutes show routine canvass and certification procedure by the council and no further contest in the record; the new levies were recorded for collection under town resolutions adopted later in the year.
