Culbertson council accepts treasurer’s resignation, appoints town officers and names Culbertson State Bank as depository

Minutes recorded across several 1927 council meetings show multiple administrative actions: resignations, appointments, committee assignments and the selection of a municipal depository.

At the Feb. 7, 1927 meeting Mayor J. E. Rucker made the appointment of 'Learnard Morn' as chief of the Fire Department; the council approved the appointment as recorded in the minutes. In early March the mayor appointed E. Erickson to fill an aldermanic vacancy created by A. Donaldson’s departure; the council approved that appointment.

At the June meeting the minutes record that the town treasurer tendered his resignation (the minutes use the term 'Town Inno' for the office). The resignation was accepted and Mayor Rucker appointed Hans Smith to fill the unexpired term of J. W. Stahe (the minutes record Hans Smith’s appointment as 'Town Inso'); the council approved the appointment on condition that Hans Smith furnish bond of $10,000.00.

The council also appointed a small committee (Frank Moon and H. E. Dunbar) to investigate the proposition of purchasing a parcel described as 'Jump Grounds' west of town from the Olson estate and instructed the committee to proceed as they saw advisable.

In the same June minutes the council resolved to designate the Culbertson State Bank as the depository for municipal funds and required that the bank furnish acceptable security (manor or other acceptable collateral) equal to the amount of the average deposit.
