On July 21 the Bay County Planning Commission voted to forward to the Board of County Commissioners a recommendation to change roughly 1.2 acres at 2830 East Highway 390 from C1 (neighborhood commercial) to C3 (general commercial).
Blair Saunders, planning staff, said the site sits along a roadway identified in the comprehensive plan’s transportation element and that nearby properties already have C3 zoning, making general commercial zoning appropriate. "The subject property meets the bulk regulation requirements of LDR table 6.1," Saunders said, and recommended that the commission find the application (PLZCA20260173) consistent with the comprehensive plan and forward a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners.
Applicant Matthew Andrews identified himself, said the plan is to rebuild on the property's pre-hurricane footprint and to occupy some space while leasing other portions. "The goal here is we're going to build back in the footprint of what was on the property before the hurricane... We don't know what exactly we're gonna do with the property yet. We're gonna occupy some of it ourselves. But then we're also gonna lease some of the building out," Andrews said.
No public comment was recorded. Commissioners moved, seconded and adopted staff's recommendation by roll-call vote; the recommendation will be transmitted to the Board of County Commissioners for final action.
