Pittsboro council moves to terminate Hendricks Regional wellness contract after higher-than-expected bills

The Pittsboro Town Council voted to terminate the town’s contract with Hendricks Regional’s employee wellness service after staff flagged unexpectedly high charges and inconsistent billing compared with the presentation estimates.

At the July meeting, staff reported that early invoices were substantially higher than anticipated and that per‑visit and supply charges had escalated beyond the figures shown during the program presentation. Several council members said they liked the service but could not justify the current costs to the town.

Council considered termination language in a resolution (identified in the meeting as Resolution 15) and discussed whether the termination should follow a 90‑day notice provision. After debate, Councilmember (speaker 2) moved to adopt resolution 15 to terminate the agreement; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote, recorded as 4‑0.

Town staff will circulate the termination paperwork and follow the signature and notice requirements specified in the resolution. No further staff report on transition costs or replacement services was presented at the meeting.
