Richardson County commissioners accept $50,000 Verdon garage quote, approve treasurer report and claims

The Richardson County Board of Commissioners on July 8 unanimously approved a series of routine administrative and fiscal actions, including acceptance of a contractor quote to erect a Verdon county garage and authorization of county claims.

Highway Superintendent Steve Darveau Jr. told the board the ordered building for the Verdon county garage has been received and presented contractor quotes for erection and concrete work. Commissioner Bobby Campbell moved to accept the quote from Froeschl Concrete for a total of $50,000 (trenching $6,800; concrete $30,600; floor drain steel grate $600; erect versatube building $12,000). Commissioner Rick Karas seconded the motion, and the board voted unanimously (Karas-aye; Campbell-aye; Chairman John Caverzagie-aye).

County Treasurer Amanda Bartek-Ramsey presented the County Treasurer's Semi-Annual Report for the period Jan. 1 through June 30, 2026, and asked the board to approve a replacement of pledged securities (replace pledge security receipt #93070 with F&M Bank for receipt #94844). Commissioner Caverzagie moved to approve the replacement of the pledged securities; Karas seconded and the motion carried on a unanimous roll-call vote. The board then approved the semi-annual report on a motion by Campbell, seconded by Caverzagie (unanimous roll call).

Commissioner Campbell moved to approve payment of all claims submitted that day; Karas seconded and the motion carried. The meeting record lists a General Fund total of $191,719.79 and a Road & Bridge Fund total of $93,154.64. Other listed fund totals included Reg of Deeds P&M $329.43 and Sheriff Commissary $172.00. Payroll expenses for county employees were included in the published General Fund and Road & Bridge Fund lists.

Sheriff Hardesty provided a routine update on the Law Enforcement Center; no formal action was recorded on that report.

A motion by Karas to adjourn the meeting carried unanimously at 10:04 a.m. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioner's Meeting Room at the Richardson County Courthouse in Falls City.
