KPAC reviews FY2526 balance, discusses wrap payments and supplemental budget process

At its June meeting, the Keizer Public Arts Committee reviewed the FY2526 ending balance and discussed how pending street-art and utility-box projects will affect available funds.

Staff reported a projected ending balance of $3,204 for FY2526. Committee members reminded the group that set-asides for street art and a 'drain art' project will reduce unobligated funds; staff said a supplemental budget would need to be advertised in the newspaper if KPAC wants to draw on additional money.

"So we haven't spent any money this year in July," staff said while outlining remaining obligations. Committee members asked whether two recently commissioned wraps had been paid; staff said installation approvals were given but the contracts were still pending.

Members discussed approximate costs: one committee member referenced wrap prices in the neighborhood of $800, and staff estimated a concrete pad for moving a sculpture would likely cost about $200. The committee later made a motion to pay for materials for a pad to move the sculpture "Praise," setting a not-to-exceed cap of $500 for materials.

Committee members stressed that public works has historically performed the physical moves while KPAC pays for materials such as pads and forms. Staff agreed to check with the public works director about the timing and any formal process and to provide exact costs for future planning.

Committee members directed staff to return with specific cost figures and to advertise any supplemental budget amendment if needed.
