Culbertson council advertises for and awards bid on used motor grader

The town council determined that the existing street-maintaining grader was too small and voted to advertise for sealed bids for a used motor grader with specified minimum capabilities and equipment.

A March 30 special session approved the advertisement with detailed machine specifications (all-wheel drive and steering, at least 100 horsepower, cab, scarifier, and specified tires) and reserved the council's right to accept or reject bids. The clerk was instructed to publish the notice beginning March 31 with bid opening scheduled for April 15.

At the April 15 special session the council opened two bids and, after deliberation, moved and approved acceptance of the bid from N. W. Equipment Co. The minutes record the bid acceptance motion as carried; the clerk recorded the decision and the meeting adjourned. The council later discussed related maintenance attachments, seeking price information on a dozer blade for the grader.

The minutes do not include the final purchase price in the advertisement text but record that two bids were received and that the N. W. Equipment bid was accepted. Procurement follow-up noted in the minutes included arranging payment through the auditing committee and obtaining required equipment attachments.
