Deer Park Fire Control board recommends City Council approve $53,550 bunker-gear purchase

At a special-called meeting, the Deer Park Fire Control board voted to recommend that the City Council approve the purchase of bunker gear through Buy Board contract number 798-26 for $53,550.

The motion to recommend approval was made by Mr. Reynolds and seconded by Mr. Archer. In discussion before the vote the board clarified a transcriptionally inconsistent dollar figure; the Chair then restated the motion and the contract reference and called for a voice vote.

Mr. Archer, explaining the reason for convening the special meeting, said the vendor quote arrived too late for the board's last regular meeting and "it was in the current fiscal year budgeted funds, which ends in September, and y'all don't meet again until October," adding that waiting would have required budget amendments. The board said the purchase is funded in the current fiscal-year budget.

The board voted by voice; the Chair announced "the ayes have it." The motion as recorded recommends City Council approve the Metro Fire purchase under Buy Board contract number 798-26 for $53,550. Final approval remains with the City Council.

The meeting then adjourned.
