Gosper County commissioners approve routine reports, hear Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline introduction

The Gosper County Board of Commissioners met July 8, 2026, in an open session at the Gosper County Courthouse in Elwood and approved routine administrative items while hearing a presentation from Summit Carbon Solutions about a proposed multistate carbon dioxide pipeline.

Chairperson Terry Lerdall presided. The board unanimously approved the minutes of June 30, 2026, on a motion by Bruce Bader and a second from Glenn Hofman. The board also designated publication in the Valley Voice, posting on the county website, and courthouse bulletin-board posting as the county’s official methods for public meeting notice.

At 10:05 a.m. the board reconvened as the Board of Equalization. Assessor Pam Bogle reported that no valuation protests had been received and submitted a list of properties proposed for religious and cemetery exemptions; the board approved that list and acknowledged receipt of the Assessor’s 2027–2029 Three-Year Assessment Plan, each by unanimous roll call.

Highway Superintendent Kelly Lehmann delivered the county road report. The board approved the Clerk of the District Court report for June 2026, and approved the Sheriff’s Quarterly Report for April through June 2026.

Sheriff Joshua Richie briefed the board on identification badges for county employees and courtroom security procedures. The board reviewed a request from Region II Human Service Behavioral Health and approved Gosper County’s FY 2026–27 assessment in the amount of $8,335.10.

The meeting adjourned at 11:30 a.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 29, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the Gosper County Courthouse in Elwood.
