Summit Carbon Solutions presents early-stage CO2 pipeline plan to Gosper County commissioners

Representatives from Summit Carbon Solutions introduced themselves to the Gosper County Board of Commissioners during the July 8, 2026 meeting and described a proposed multistate carbon dioxide capture and transport pipeline.

Kaylee Gibson and Matt Bright represented the company. Bright told the board the project is in the early stages of planning and that the precise route through Nebraska and other states has not been determined. He said the company envisions a pipeline extending from Minnesota through Iowa and Nebraska and terminating in Wyoming where captured carbon dioxide would be stored underground.

Board members did not take action on the project during the meeting. The presentation served as an introductory briefing to inform county officials; Summit Carbon Solutions did not present route maps or request local approvals at this session.

Because the company described the project as early-stage planning and explicitly said the final route is not decided, property- and land-use implications for Gosper County remain unresolved and were not addressed in the meeting.
