Nemaha County Board of Equalization approves APACE Foundation tax-exemption applications after hearing

At its July 15 meeting in Auburn, the Nemaha County Board of Equalization approved tax-exemption applications for multiple parcels tied to APACE Foundation (formerly Region V Foundation).

Commissioner Michael Weiss moved to approve the listed APACE Foundation exemption applications for the 2026 tax year; Chairman Bryan Mellage seconded each motion. The motions carried on roll call votes with Weiss and Mellage voting aye and Commissioner Mike Hall absent.

The items were considered during a public hearing that the board opened and closed the same day; the record shows that no one appeared to object. Earlier in the same sequence of proceedings the board recorded motions to disallow exemptions for the same parcel numbers listed under the name Region V Foundation; those disallowance motions were recorded and carried on roll call before the approvals recorded under the APACE Foundation name.

Parcel numbers recorded in the meeting materials for the motions include 64005098, 640006213, 640009395, 640009409, 640010792, 640012213, 640038840, 640045235 and 640094031. The meeting minutes list each motion as moved by Commissioner Michael Weiss and seconded by Chairman Bryan Mellage; each motion’s roll-call result was recorded as aye for Weiss and Mellage, with Hall absent.

The Board of Equalization did not receive public objections during the hearing and took the approvals and related procedural motions in open session.
