Washington County board adopts Adirondack Community College budget and a slate of routine resolutions

The Washington County Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 100And72 to adopt the Adirondack Community College tentative budget for the 2026–27 academic year after a roll-call vote and then approved a series of mostly routine resolutions covering intergovernmental agreements, contracts and staffing changes.

The college budget resolution was moved and seconded and carried on roll call, the chair announced. After that action the board approved measures including authorizing submission of the county’s draft local solid waste management plan to New York State (Res. 173); authorizing the chairman to execute a New York State Department of Transportation highway work permit (Res. 174); agreements authorizing sheriff patrols within the villages of Whitehall and Fort Edward (Res. 175 and Res. 176); and a resolution supporting Washington County Sewer District No. 2’s application for grant funding (Res. 177).

The board also adopted a resolution to accept the Champlain Hudson Power Express Corridor Management Plan (Res. 178), approved an amendment to the 2024–29 municipal snow-and-ice agreement for the 2025–26 season (Res. 179), and authorized a contract for a licensed social worker with an associated budget amendment (Res. 180).

Other adopted items included awarding a mini-bid for small SUVs (Res. 10081); amending the Department of Social Services budget to add AI-powered caseworker-assistant software (Res. 100And82); changing the highway staffing pattern and title-by-grade schedule for the summer season (Res. 100And83); adopting a standard work day and reporting resolution as amended (Res. 01/1984); authorizing the sheriff to sign a nursing-services contract for the county HMO (Res. 185); adding a part-time caseworker assistant to the title/grade schedule (Res. 1And86); and adopting an order calling a public hearing on improvements for Sewer District No. 2 (Res. 187).

Where recorded, measures were adopted either by voice vote or roll call. The audit committee earlier reported it recommended payment of accounts totaling $4,538,816.80. The meeting contained limited debate on most items; a small number of supervisors made brief comments during roll calls and when a non-substantive operational question was raised about canal-related traffic and service outages.
