Culbertson council adopts budget, levy and a package of ordinances and contracts

The Culbertson Town Council adopted its fiscal 1989–90 budget and set a combined tax levy of 82.82 mills — 78.95 mills for general purposes, 2.95 mills for the library and 0.92 mills for the Public Employees Retirement System — as part of a series of motions at meetings held Jan.–Dec. 1989.

Council action also included adoption of multiple ordinances and formal resolutions across the year. Notable actions included: the adoption of Ordinance No. 168 adding cubic-yard-based landfill hauling fees to the town code; several administrative ordinances amending town code chapters (including updates to the order of business and animal-control provisions); and the approval of budget transfers and line-item adjustments tied to the town’s audited accounts.

In procurement and service contracts, the council accepted a three-year garbage-hauling contract and a three-year landfill-maintenance contract from contractor Lynn Labatte after a public bid process.
