Culbertson council adopts 1987-88 budget mill levy and sets clerk pay

The Culbertson Town Council adopted its final budget for fiscal year 1987-88 in a special meeting on Aug. 6, approving Resolution No. 245 to set property-tax levies across funds and to fix the clerk's salary.

The resolution set the All-Purpose General Fund levy at 60.00 mills, Capital Improvement Fund at 5.00 mills, Library Fund at 3.31 mills, the Public Employees Retirement System fund at 0.46 mills and the SID Revolving Fund at 0.35 mills for a total levy of 69.12 mills. The council also set the clerk's salary at $1,173.50 per month for the 1987-88 fiscal year.

Why it matters: the mill-levy resolution establishes the town's primary property-tax rates for the coming year and determines expected revenue for core services and capital improvements.

Council actions: Resolution No. 245 was moved by Gordon Miller and seconded by Larry Reitz; the motion carried with recorded votes. The council asked staff to proceed with implementing the budget and to publish relevant notices as required.
