Culbertson Council backs park renovation, reduces senior-center rent and approves pool staffing

Civic groups—the Women’s Club, Chamber and Boy Scouts—told the council they planned a park renovation funded by local donations and existing community accounts. The council authorized a $1,000 obligation from the FY 1989–90 budget to support the park project and encouraged coordination with the town’s water commissioner regarding underground sprinklers.

Senior Citizen representatives requested a reduction in the Community Center rent after the county cut the Senior Citizen Program budget. The council voted to reduce the monthly rental fee from $100 to $50, effective February 1989; the clerk was directed to send written confirmation to the group.

For the municipal swimming pool, the council approved advertising and hiring procedures for a manager, assistant manager and lifeguards, set wage levels for the 1989 season, and later confirmed the selected staff. The minutes also record pool admission pricing and the council’s decision to issue complimentary tickets to families providing mosquito control services.

The council’s decisions followed presentations from civic representatives and pool managers and included routine clerical follow-up to advertise positions, collect applications and monitor contracted summer work.
