The Culbertson Town Council on Jan. 4 discussed truck parking concerns along the highway and took steps to erect signage after consulting the Glendive highway office.
Council member James Baldwin called the Glendive office of the highway department to obtain permission to install “No Truck Parking” signs; the department told the town it would send a letter authorizing the signs. Bruce Waldhausen and Deputy Duane Rasmussen discussed enforcement options with the council. Attorney Greg Hennessy noted that because there is no zoning within the town limits, much of the town could be considered residential for purposes of applying the town code to truck parking. Bruce Waldhausen said GVW could issue certain parking tickets.
The minutes do not record a formal vote count; the highway office’s written authorization was to follow by letter, which the town expected to receive before erecting signage.
