Culbertson’s town council voted on Nov. 3 to adopt three ordinances updating local code and fees affecting residents and businesses.
Ordinance No. 159 amended section 7.02.070 to formalize garbage collection fees and the town’s newly adopted solid-waste landfill fees. The council approved a landfill contribution for residential accounts of $3.50 per month effective Nov. 1, 1988, and adopted a detailed commercial rate schedule. Bainville and Froid officials joined the Culbertson council in acknowledging shared landfill cost increases and agreed to the new rate structure.
Ordinance No. 160 amended the town’s application of the uniform building code and required building permits for fence construction. Ordinance No. 161 established standardized sidewalk sizes and placements and set a process for sidewalk repair and reconstruction.
Council members emphasized the ordinances aim to bring local code into closer alignment with state building and fire codes, to clarify placement standards for sidewalks and fences, and to ensure that landfill costs are recovered fairly among users. The measures included motions to publish the ordinance texts and make the changes effective for the coming fiscal period.
The council also directed clerk and legal staff to notify affected parties and contractors and to publish the new fees and permitting requirements in local outlets.
