Calhoun County board approves consent agenda, extends administrator contract and clears $9.5M in claims payable

The Calhoun County Board of Commissioners on July 16 approved its consent agenda, which included multiple administrative resolutions and a contract extension for the county’s Administrator/Controller.

Items approved on the consent agenda included a 2026 Native American Heritage Fund administrative services agreement, a CCRD Local Road Improvement Agreement with Sheridan Township covering three projects, updated bylaws and an intergovernmental agreement for the Michigan Works! Southwest Workforce Development Board, a MERS service credit purchase for Chris Young, and a contract extension for the Administrator/Controller. Commissioner Monique French moved the consent agenda; Commissioner Dan Strowbridge seconded and the motion carried on a voice vote.

In separate action, the board approved claims payable for June 11 through July 2, 2026 in the amount of $9,512,985.25. Commissioner Dominic Oo moved approval of the claims payable listing; Commissioner Gary Tompkins seconded. The roll call vote was 5‑0 in favor; two commissioners were absent/excused.

Administrator/Controller Kelli Scott also reported that the Firekeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board approved remaining allocations totaling $6.1 million and that the Planning Commission forwarded a proposed 20‑year comprehensive master plan for public comment and eventual adoption. These reports were given as informational items and were not subject to separate votes at this meeting.
