Across 2020 the Culbertson Town Council advanced budget planning, vendor selection for planning services, and wage and mill-levy resolutions.
During a May workshop and subsequent June budget hearing, council reviewed preliminary figures and agreed to a budget timeline: a budget workshop in May, a formal hearing in June and final adoption after certified tax values. At the June budget hearing council approved Resolution #485 setting personnel wages for FY2020–21, specifying hourly rates for the public works director, clerk/treasurer, utility clerk and contract tester, and establishing biannual stipends for mayor ($5,000) and council members ($2,500). The council also attached a preliminary budget to Resolution #486 pending certified tax values.
For capital planning, the council reviewed proposals to update the Growth Policy and Capital Improvement Plan and later selected WWC Engineering to deliver the CIP and growth-policy update. The council also approved Resolution #483 requesting distribution of $24,962.92 in Bridge & Road Safety and Accountability Program funds for street work with a 5% local match.
Next step: finalize the budget after certified values are provided and complete contracting with WWC Engineering for planning services.
