Zoning committee approves several conditional use permits and a rezone cleanup request

The Sawyer County Zoning Committee approved a set of routine land‑use requests during its July 19 meeting, including a rezone to resolve a property encroachment and several conditional use permits (CUPs) for accessory structures, HOA storage and private park facilities.

Key approvals included Rezone 26‑013 (O’Brien Hill Properties LLC) to change ~5.08 acres from Agricultural 1 to Residential Recreational 1 to clean up an encroachment; the Town of Hayward recommended approval and no additional comments were received. The committee approved the rezone with findings of fact.

Conditional use permits approved during the meeting included CUP 26‑018 (Radisson) permitting an accessory structure with a 3‑year timeframe to apply for a primary dwelling; CUP 26‑019 (Bass Lake) allowing a 30×40 accessory structure across a town road where wetlands/ setbacks were considered; CUP 26‑020 (Weenigore) for placement of an accessory structure with a 3‑year dwelling timeline; and CUPs 26‑022 and 26‑023 for private‑park storage and a warming hut/pavilion in the Preserve subdivision. Each approval included staff‑listed conditions and the committee’s findings that the uses promoted public health, safety and orderly land development.

Most approvals reflected town board recommendations and routine staff conditions; one CUP (26‑018) included timelines for permits (3 years to apply for dwelling; 18 months to shell and enclose once building permit issued).
