Iowa City launches interactive public art map showing 194 works

The presenter announced the launch of the Iowa City Public Art Map, a new online tool that displays the locations of 194 public-art works across the city.

The map, created by the city’s public art program in partnership with the Public Art Archive, includes works commissioned by the Public Art Commission and pieces funded by or created for organizations, businesses or individuals for public display. The presenter directed listeners to icgov.org/publicart to view the map.

City officials say the map is intended to help residents and visitors locate and learn about public artworks and to encourage exploration of public spaces. The update did not include a formal rollout date beyond the announcement or details on ongoing maintenance and curation of the map.

The presenter closed by inviting the public to explore the city’s public art using the new resource.
