Oliver Springs honors Ramona Walker and renames Red Bud Park for James Brummett

The Oliver Springs board unanimously approved a resolution recognizing Ramona Walker for 28 years of service as court clerk and finance director and presented her with the council’s thanks.

In related business, the council passed a resolution renaming Red Bud Park as James Brummett Memorial Park, directing the city manager to coordinate signage and a commemorative plaque and to update records, maps and websites to reflect the new name. Councilmembers praised Brummett’s community contributions during the discussion and the measure passed on a roll-call vote.

The council also acknowledged volunteers and community members for the Fourth of July celebration and presented two $500 donations—one to the Mamie Carmichael Foundation and one to the library—to support local programming.
