Washington schedules water‑tower bids review, prepares CIPP sewer lining RFPs and discusses Dollar Tree utilities

City Administrator Carl Chalfant reported that BG Consultants and USDA cleared steps to proceed with requests for proposals on water‑system work, including water‑tower improvements and Sargent Drilling work at the wells. The water tower bids were sent out with a Jan. 7, 2022 deadline at 3:30 p.m., and staff asked that the regular January meeting be adjourned to noon Jan. 10 for review and approval of tower‑painting bids.

Chalfant said he is compiling information from neighboring cities to prepare a request for proposals for cured‑in‑place pipe (CIPP) sewer lining; the RFPs are to be sent in January with a February bid opening.

City electric staff and the administrator discussed placement of utilities for a proposed Dollar Tree/Family Dollar. Staff sent a letter to the developer requesting assistance with street improvements; no construction schedule or developer response was recorded in the minutes.

Next steps: staff will publish and distribute bid materials, prepare the CIPP RFP, and reconvene the council at noon on Jan. 10 to open and review water‑tower bid submissions.
