Army Corps says Reed Street resilience project is moving forward; contractor award expected in October

Peter Gory, representing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District, told the Dewey Beach commissioners July 17 that the Reed Street resilience project is advancing after an agreement signed in early May and the town's nonfederal cost share was provided.

Gory said the Corps' project delivery team has begun developing the scope of work and a schedule for the AE contractor. He described internal meetings to refine the scope and said the team expects to solicit a task order and negotiate price; due to the federal fiscal-year close in September, contracting activity likely will not produce an award until October.

Town Manager Bill introduced Gory and confirmed the town provided the required nonfederal funds and will be included in upcoming scope reviews. Gory said the team plans a meeting in Dewey Beach with the town and the engineering firm to ensure the town's needs are incorporated before issuing the contractor task order.

The update did not include a final construction schedule or contract amount; Gory described schedule and scope work in progress and committed to sharing the finalized scope with the town when available.
