Granville board clears veterans concert and reviews America 250 parade route

The Village of Granville Board granted permission to use Veterans Park for an Operation Adopt a Soldier concert on Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., responding to an email from Phil Hoyt. Deputy Mayor Dean Hyatt moved to approve the request; Trustee Heather Leaman seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The board complimented Mr. Hoyt for his prior efforts in support of the cause.

Separately, the board reviewed correspondence from the American Legion Post proposing an "America 250" parade route that would start at the Carnival Lot, proceed down East Potter to Church Street, continue to Main Street and Quaker Street, then exit at Irving Avenue and Columbus Street to conclude at the Legion Post. Mayor Paul Labas said Trustee Leaman will head a committee to commission a village float and encouraged community participation.

The minutes do not record additional permitting conditions or any public safety plan tied to either event; village departments listed in attendance included the Police and Fire chiefs, who were present at the meeting and available for follow-up coordination.
