The Atlanta Public Schools Policy Review Committee on July 16 voted to move a narrow amendment to Policy DFB — concerning state funds and TADIRC reporting — to the full board for final approval.
Carolyn Barnett presented a one‑point change to the policy: remove the specific deadline language requiring the committee’s report 'by October 1 of each year' and instead require that the report be submitted during the fall semester. Barnett said the change gives the committee more time to assemble and review TAS data so it is not rushed by an early October cutoff.
Committee members agreed the fall semester cadence would be appropriate for the initial reporting cycle and discussed that once the process is systematized, future reports would consistently fall in the autumn. The committee then voted by voice to move the amended policy to the full board for final approval.
The committee asked staff to finalize the revised language for the August board packet. The full board will consider Policy DFB for final approval at its upcoming meeting; committee members said the change is intended to improve the quality and timing of district reporting rather than alter the substance of the program.
