Planning commission approves veterinary dentistry office at 6045 S. Fashion Blvd.

The Murray City Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit to allow a veterinary dentistry office at 6045 South Fashion Boulevard, the commission said after a roll call vote.

Planning staff presented the proposal and recommended approval subject to eight conditions. Staff said the property is just under an acre, the proposed dentistry would use 3,621 square feet across two suites (Suites 101 and 102), and zoning requires 14 parking stalls for the use; the existing site has 64 stalls available for tenants. Staff noted additional landscaping is required along Fashion Boulevard (one tree, two 5-gallon shrubs and four 1-gallon shrubs at a depth of 10 feet from the public street) and said staff will work with the applicant to ensure code compliance. Notices were sent to 43 property owners within 300 feet and staff reported no public comments to date.

Applicant Mercedes DePaolo introduced herself, gave a Salt Lake City address and confirmed she is a veterinary dentist who currently operates a traveling practice; she said this will be her first fixed location and the practice will serve dogs and cats only. DePaolo told the commission she can comply with the eight conditions outlined in the staff report.

A commissioner moved approval and the motion was seconded. On a roll call, Commissioners Richards, Hildreth, Pearson, Kling, Rogers and Chair Hacker voted in favor and the motion passed. Staff welcomed the business to Murray.

The commission then continued to closing items and announcements.
