Beach Haven council notes community events, thanks volunteers at July 13 meeting

During closing remarks at the July 13 meeting, council members and the mayor used their time to announce community events and to thank municipal staff and volunteers.

A council member invited residents to a movie in the park at Veterans Park on July 23 and recognized Recreation Director Jen Zillow and volunteer MC Steve Darien for organizing a successful free-throw contest. The council expressed public thanks to the police department, public works, the volunteer fire department and first-aid volunteers for handling heavy July 4 activity in town.

Council also highlighted a Bay Bash fundraiser on July 18 hosted by the Little Lake Harbor Yacht Club to support the Mordecai Island Land Trust, which the council described in the record as an important barrier island that protects the south end of town from storm surge.

The public comment period earlier in the agenda produced no speakers.
