UDRB clears Cape Cod–style house at 849 Bridge Avenue with unanimous vote

The Urban Design Review Board unanimously approved conceptual design plans for a single-family residence at 849 Bridge Avenue (parcel 13050DG010), advancing a Cape Cod–style home that the planner said is compatible with surrounding single-family development.

City planner Ryan Sadler presented the application for applicant Angela Barnes, describing a proposed 2,150-square-foot, one-story home with four bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, a steeply pitched side-gabled roof with two front dormers and a front-entry carport. Sadler said the site is a heavily wooded, vacant parcel with access off Bridge Avenue and that the proposed exterior materials and neutral color palette promote compatibility with the RS zoning district.

A board member asked about a 6-by-6 pressure-treated pillar shown on the plans; Sadler confirmed it would be used for the covered porch and appeared on the front elevation as noted in the applicant's letter of intent. After brief clarifications, Yaya Hassan moved to approve the staff-recommended conceptual design and Rodney Givens seconded. The board voted unanimously to approve the application.

The approval is for conceptual design; subsequent permitting, any required site plan adjustments and building-permit review remain to be completed before construction.
