Department staff urges watering restrictions as Mantua faces low supplies

Marcus, a department staff member, briefed the council on intermittent water supply issues and urged water conservation measures.

Marcus said the town is experiencing low supplies and tank cycles are sensitive to watering times. He recommended restricting outdoor watering so it does not occur after 9 a.m. and not before 9 p.m., and suggested public messaging via the town newsletter, website and text notices.

A council member noted that Mantua is “completely out of water,” and council members agreed to try a restricted schedule for the next month and to post guidance for residents. Marcus explained that the tanks operate on cycles and that watering during the day can disrupt those cycles.

Council members accepted the proposed approach and asked staff to prepare messaging for publication.
