Board approves split $500 incentives for employees and Summer SHINE pay rates

The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board on April 12 approved a plan to pay two one-time $500 incentive payments to full-time employees and approved the 2022 Summer SHINE pay rates.

Mrs. Dominique Miller asked the board to approve a one-time $500 incentive payment for all full-time employees active as of April 1, 2022. "Mrs. Miller stated that this will be paid out of ESSR 3 funds." The initial motion by Jones was replaced by a substitute motion from Burl to approve two $500 payments: one to be paid by the end of April for employees active April 1, 2022, and a second $500 payment for employees active Oct. 1, 2022, to be paid in November 2022. The substitute motion carried on a recorded vote (11 yeas).

The board also approved the 2022 Summer SHINE pay rates as presented (motion by Triche, second by Jones; 11 yeas). The meeting minutes note the incentive payments will be funded from ESSR 3 as stated at the meeting; the record does not include a detailed budget breakdown or individual pay-rate figures for Summer SHINE beyond the motion to approve the presented rates.
