Board adopts measurable superintendent performance targets and amends contract to include them

The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board adopted a series of detailed performance targets for Superintendent Dr. Lynett Hookfin and amended her contract to incorporate those targets at the March 10 meeting.

The performance targets set measurable goals across multiple indicators: districtwide increases in elementary and middle proficiency by at least 2 percentage points per year; high‑school EOC 'good/excellent' gains of 2 percentage points; ACT performance increases of 2 percentage points; graduation rate increases of 1 percentage point; teacher effectiveness increases; and base school performance-score gains. The packet also establishes performance bonuses for meeting targets and describes how school‑level letter‑grade improvements factor into bonus calculations.

Board President Nia Mitchell-Williams moved to adopt the targets; the motion and a subsequent motion to amend the superintendent’s contract to include the targets passed on roll call with 10 Yeas and 1 Absent (Jones). The motions put the targets into the superintendent’s contractual performance framework and the packet outlines the bonus schedule tied to achievement of the measures.
