At its April 12 meeting the St. John the Baptist Parish School Board approved a range of procurement actions and adopted a revised purchasing policy.
Motions approved included authorizing advertisement for bids for Rudolph G. Dinvaut Football Stadium repairs and approving advertising for bids or proposals for chiller and maintenance services, locksmith services, pest control services, electrical supplies and copy/printer paper. The board awarded the debris removal contract to Grillot Construction and awarded the General Maintenance Supplies contract to Ace Hardware. Where recorded, votes on these items carried unanimously.
Board members discussed but did not approve an extension of Verapro Staffing at the current rate not to exceed $100,000 per quarter for one year; Sanders offered a substitute motion to table that item, and the motion to table carried (11 yeas).
The board also approved Revised Policy DJE: Purchasing (motion by Triche, second by Jones), which incorporates federal procurement rules including 2 CFR 200 and applicable Louisiana statutes; the adoption carried 10 yeas, 1 nay (Sanders). A proposed revision to DJED: Bids & Quotes was brought forward but tabled on a substitute motion.
Motions approving routine supplies and service solicitations and the DJE adoption reflect the board's effort to align procurement practices with federal and state requirements; the minutes include the revised DJE text and statutory references but do not list individual bid specifications or vendor contract amounts for the awarded contracts beyond the Verapro staffing cap referenced in discussion.
