At its May 12 meeting the St. John the Baptist Parish School Board approved a slate of business and finance measures that included vendor contract awards, an extension of a staffing services contract, and authorization to advertise for multiple repair projects.
The Board voted to extend Verapro Staffing under the district’s current rate sheet with a cap not to exceed $125,000 per quarter for one year. It also approved entering into a software service agreement with Munis to support administrative operations.
Procurement approvals included awards for food and supply contracts: bread products to Bimbo Bakeries USA; frozen foods to Diamond Food Distributors and Pon Food Corporation (split by item sets); meat products to Diamond Food Distributors and Pon Food Corporation; processed foods to multiple vendors; cleaning supplies and paper supplies to Economical Janitorial/Supplies and others; milk to Borden’s Dairy; and small equipment to Economical and other vendors. Vote tallies recorded majorities in favor for each award.
Construction and repair awards included roofing repairs at East St. John High School to Industrial Roofing and Construction, LLC; field house, ball field and dugout repairs at East St. John High School to D.L. Daigle & Co. Inc.; and fencing repairs at West St. John High School athletic fields to U.S. Fence and Gate, Inc. The Board also approved advertising for bids on multiple school repair projects including Central Office repairs, John L. Ory Magnet Elementary, Garyville Mt. Airy Math & Science Magnet School, West St. John Elementary exterior and annex, Leon Godchaux repairs, and West St. John High School repairs.
Mr. Marco Gonzales of Volkert, Inc. presented the firm’s approach to program management for capital projects and showed examples of related work in Louisiana districts. During the presentations, Mr. Derron Cook thanked voters for passage of the bond that will fund capital work.
