Claiborne Parish School Board adopts 2026 ad valorem tax millages

The Claiborne Parish School Board on July 9, 2026, voted unanimously to adopt the 2026 ad valorem tax millages that will fund parish-wide general, maintenance and special school funds. Tommy Davidson, a board member, made the motion to adopt the millages and Linda Knox seconded; the adoption passed by a roll call recorded as 9 yeas, 0 nays, 0 abstentions, 1 absent.

The board read a resolution establishing the following millages for the 2026 tax roll: a General Fund Constitutional Tax of 5.39 mills; a Special Operational and Maintenance Tax of 5.22 mills; Salaries and Benefits at 10.13 mills; a Special Maintenance Tax of 5.22 mills for maintenance; and a School District Maintenance Tax of 9.00 mills under special funds. The resolution directs the appropriate parish officials to spread and collect the levies and states the taxes will be a lien on property subject to taxation.

The minutes record the roll-call adoption and include a certification of the resolution. The resolution text in the minutes also references the assessment roll for the year 2025 in one clause, while the header and other language identify these as levies on the 2026 tax roll; the minutes do not reconcile that difference.

Tommy Davidson moved the measure and Linda Knox seconded. The motion was recorded as passed by unanimous roll call. The board provided no public comments on the millages at the meeting.
