Council approves one‑day liquor consent for Pecan Valley event; members flag parking issues at the resort

The Hurricane City Council approved local consent for a single‑event liquor license for Pecan Valley Resort’s one‑day Red Rock Island luau, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8. Thomas Packer (S12), who said he runs the resort, described security and ticketing arrangements and said the organizers will follow DABS standards for alcohol service.

Council members asked about parking capacity for the event and broader weekend impacts from vacation rentals and water‑park visitors. Councilman Dave (S6) said some lots have been added but expressed concern about parking spilling onto residential streets; Packer said surplus paved/graveled areas and new parking lots will be used and that overnight and day guests are permitted to use resort lots.
