Selectmen urge enforcement on generator noise, flag parking hazards and note lifted boil-water advisory after E. coli incident

The Essex Board of Selectmen used the July 15 meeting to flag a set of local quality-of-life and safety issues and to record a public-health update.

Selectmen reported renewed complaints about a continuously running generator on Pond Meadow Road and recommended that the Land Use Department send another cease-and-desist letter to address the noise. The board also expressed concern about large landscape vehicles and trailers parking on narrow roads and at corners, which members said creates safety hazards for motorists and cyclists and urged contractors to park in driveways when possible.

On public health, the board discussed an E. coli incident in Essex on July 10. According to the minutes, CT Water issued a boil-water advisory that affected nine shoreline communities; the advisory was lifted after officials determined the event was isolated. The minutes do not include laboratory data or a timeline for confirmation; they record only that the advisory was issued and later lifted.

The selectmen did not record formal enforcement actions during the meeting; they recommended follow-up by the Land Use Department and other appropriate staff.
